Mayapuri Dancers
August 17th, 2009
The Mayapuri Dancers, Gangi, Kumari, and Vrinda.
When we heard the 3rd track “Stop and Talk” on Gaura Vani’s new album “Ten Million Moons” we were thrilled, and quite soon, we got together and collaborated to create this dance.
Right now only Vrinda is traveling and performing with the Mayapuris, but we hope and plan to be reunited soon!
Switching to a more traditional, meditative mood, the following is an enactment of the Jagannatha Ashtakam prayers.Jagannath is the presiding deity in Jagannath Puri, Orissa.
Concept by Vrinda. Choreography – a collaboration by the three dancers together. The melody was composed by Visvambhar. The Bharatnatyam-bhols composed by Vrinda, the Odissi ones by Gangi.
Jagannatha Ashtakam Dance Part 1
Part 2
A short bhajan followed by a dance spoken in English illustrating Chapter 10, The Opulence of the Absolute, from the Bhagavad Gita – As It Is by Swami Prabhupada.

This weekend in Vancouver (Give Peace a Chant, Kirtan Vancouver, and Ratha Yatra Festival of India) was some of the most heart felt & beautiful Bharat Natyam dances I have ever watched… my eyes feel bathed in Glory of the All Attractive One and in the sweetness of Love. Thank you for dedicating your life to this ultimate service. I know dancers give a LOT, you appear to give it ALL and so we give it up for you!! Haribolo
